I once heard this message Bishop TD Jakes spoke on that changed my total out look on marriage.  I can’t remember what he said word for word, so I’m going to just paraphrase and add things as the spirit leads.   Of course most of us are all familiar with the story of Adam and Eve.  God saw that Adam didn’t have a “suitable help meet”.  Genesis 2:21 “So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh.”  Genesis 2:22 “Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.”.  Since God took the rib from Adam and created Eve, Adam and Eve share the same DNA.  I remember watching a Tyler Perry movie (I’ll talk about why I no longer watch his movies when he plays a woman) but Cicely Tyson was saying how she had laid her head on her husbands chest and his heart was beating at the same pace as hers.  Whether that statement be true or false, it still goes along with what I’m saying today, two people becoming one.  Not just soul ties but something much deeper.

For those men who are dating look for the characteristics that show you she is your missing rib.  God knows his creations.  He can count every hair on your head.  God has genetically matched you with some one.  That is so amazing to me.  After hearing that message, I realized the true importance of marriage.  It all made sense to me.  Often times the Bible uses marriage to explain the relationship between Jesus and the church.  Ephesians 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her”.  Did you see that “and gave himself up for her”.  Adam GAVE his rib, a part of himself.   Jesus GAVE His life.  That was revelation knowledge y’all LOL.  Here’s another scripture that speaks on oneness, Ephesians 5:28 “In this same way, husbands ought to love their own bodies.  He who loves his wife LOVES HIMSELF.”

I wrote all of this to say that marriage is more than rings, sex, and keeping the loneliness away.  Marriage is about exemplifying Christ’s love for the church.  Matthew 18:20 states “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.”  Now take this scripture and think of it this way, you and your husband should be doing damage to the kingdom of darkness because the two of you should be gathered in His (Christ) name every day.   That’s why the enemy attacks marriages so much.  Marriage is serious,  and not to be taken lightly.   Before saying “I do” check your DNA.
